Lighthouse Ice Cream is a family owned business serving award winning ice cream. Serving a huge variety of flavors, milkshakes, malts, sundaes, banana splits, and floats. Our famous treat is the Hot Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich. Our ice cream shop is located just steps from the beach and the West Coast’s longest concrete fishing pier in beautiful Ocean Beach San Diego, California. Dick & Carol Ladiges opened their doors for the first time on June 10, 1997. The ice cream business wasn’t new to them. Dick was the original owner of the OB Big Olaf’s in October of 1982. This is where he met his wife, Carol, when she walked inside as a customer. Dick sold Big Olaf’s in 1984 and he and Carol moved to southern Spain and completed an 18,000-mile bike tour through eight countries.Returning to Ocean Beach in 1997, they opened Lighthouse Ice Cream. Richard “Dick” Ladiges, an Ocean Beach resident, went home to heaven on May 2, 2011. The business is presently owned and operated by Carol. Lighthouse Ice Cream is known for great customer service, high quality ice cream and the famous Hot Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich.
