Staff Fire suppression and Advanced Life Support (ALS) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by a team of 9 career firefighters and is supplemented by volunteer personnel. Career firefighters work a 24-on, 48-off schedule, and each duty shift is comprised of at least one paramedic and one firefighter/EMT.       Training Continuing training is provided utilizing traditional and alternative delivery methods. The department is a subscriber of Target Safety. This program allow our personnel to receive high quality continuing education without having to leave the fire station. Physical fitness is an important component of our training program and our firefighters stay in shape by running the steps of the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse or by pumping iron at the fire station and swimming laps at one of the community’s condominiums. Equipment Ponce Inlet operates 1 quick attack mini-pumper, 2 transport capable rescue truck and 2 Type I fire engines to help us maintain a Class 3 Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating. With over 8 1/2 miles of beach and riverfront property to protect, our rescue and attack unit are both 4 wheel drive capable. Our rescues and front run engine are both equipped with a full set of ALS equipment to respond to the emergency medical needs of the community. Inspections & Code Information In an effort to safeguard the lives of our residents and visitors, the Town has adopted the most stringent and progressive fire and life safety codes available. Fire inspections are completed on an annual basis and the Fire Prevention Division reviews all plans for new construction.
