Volunteer Tutors: 90% of our program is constructed of trained volunteer tutors. • They are trained by the Program Director beginning with a two-hour Tutor Orientation in which the tutors are given an introduction into adult education, professional materials approved by the National Literacy Association and expectations of their tutoring experience. • They are then matched with a student according to their availability, location, and student preference.• They may attend an in-depth four-hour training [which focuses on student needs and results] held at various times throughout the year. • Tutors consult with the Program Director as needed [for support] and turn in monthly progress reports.
